Editation

Somewhere inside me is a capable copy editor. I can find a certain yo factor and really put out some decent cleanup. Its the allure of the rewrite, the decriptive detail, or just missing dialog...if only I could force myself into a zone where these temptations would be powerless over me.
A realm of the pen-dalini. The divine write. Supreme editation. These masteries do I seek. Or hire someone. What is Blackwater doing these days?

Its a good day when I am well...the illnesses that plague the world need to stay out. Fear not, dear public I have and will survive ever forward. I also promise a better blog post than this one. I mean, the nerve.

March Project Update

Of course, I should, once in a while, provide a "was happinin nao" type post. Avid fans and newcomers alike should be in the know.

I have accepted the ambitious challenge of publishing the 2nd Secret of the Demon story. Writing it, as always, is manageable. It's the self editing that puts me through the wringer. 22000 words also makes this the largest effort to date, and sans a novel release, (dream big, no?) it will likely be the largest of the year, too.

Exciting and humbling all at the same time.

Hey Kid

It's the scene you see in many movies.  The sporting youngster attempts something beyond their current means, a song, a dance, creating a defunct science experiment.  Then the wise cracking older person throws out, "Hey kid, don't quit your day job." 

Sound advice.  I have no intention of quitting mine as a prospect for sure, in fact quite the opposite.  I mean to excel at what I do when I am not moonlighting as an author.  I am also a writer, and that is something I have come to terms with.  Talented?  Popular?  Published?  Not at all things I am debating.  I am just a writer.

When the kid can't leave the day job, the internal drive to create should not be ignored  If we all just wanted to be on stage for everyone else, would we really be on stage?  It's not exhibition or even exposure, its production.  The inception, the design, the creation.  Publication or distribution or presentation of your trade and love...it's just a frame to hang your picture.  You hang it as much for yourself as anyone else.

a few lost along the way

I have had, in my time, many experiences of losing things. In the real world much that is lost can be found. But the digital world is a cruel mistress, a few lost ones and zeros lead to disaster. Several written works have been consumed in such a way, media failure, death of a pc, pc / mac conversion failure.
Such if the life of a digital bit. At any moment several conditions may interrupt your very existence. Here's to you, lost data!

What's up these United States?

There is a place in my heart for the youths.  People that are my younger.  But writing for them can be a challenge.  What do you tell children, in the vein of entertainment, that is a good thing to, say, sell?

Working this week on wrapping for the for submission to a contest.  Wish me luck, don't be surprised if I am a little light on the updates...

The day is long

But that don't mean a thing.  In the lighter half of the universe, somewhere over the galactic quote, unquote, rainbow, there exists a duplication of our very existence.  It's all a matter of scientific conjecture of course, but deeply inside of us we can feel the vastness of everything... 

So over that rainbow and far away, on that exact copy of the world, in the very same place you are now (respectively) you are staring at this simple post. 

Exploring the infinite at one's leisure is very much something we should all engage in.  Through art, entertainment, literature, television we have a way to view it, take it in and received it.  But to experience it deeply, can you, will you?  It's a decision to make today, if you haven't already.  If you are already there, standing here on this place, dreaming of that place far and away and over and yonder, don't forget to share it with the rest of us.

February Publication: Grizzly Future

First off, to the naysayers: nah nah na nah nah.  I have now completed 2/12ths of my monthly publication goal.  As a simplified fraction that would be 1/6. 

This was a lot of fun.  It came out of a short conversation with a friend and my wife one fine evening.  The whole thing didn't take long to draft out but the editing for a teleplay is something new to me.  Editing = my bane if you haven't been reading...
